Who I am
I am a qualified therapist working in-person and online in the city of Edinburgh. I hold a Masters in Counselling from the University of Edinburgh and am a registered member of the BACP.
Before training to be a therapist, I spent ten years as a lecturer in the field of education, with a particular interest in the philosophy of education. My own formative educational experiences have always led me to be curious about how this important time in our lives shapes the people we become and the narratives we develop about ourselves.
As a result, stories and storytelling are an important part of both my life and practice: books, films and dreams are all a rich source of meaning and are welcome in our work together.
My approach
For me, therapy begins with a basic principle of shareability: the very fact of being able to share your experience - however painful - can be a great relief, and the most important starting point for looking at things anew. I offer a calm, empathetic and inclusive approach to therapy that makes the safe sharing and exploring of experience feel possible, even at its most challenging.
My approach is rarely limited to one way of seeing things, and I am committed to always discovering new perspectives in my work, reflecting on how the field is evolving to adjust to different needs in complex times.
